Lovely Pubs

The Ribble Valley is a food-lover’s heaven. 10% of Britain’s award winning gastro-pubs are located around Clitheroe. That’s the highest density outside of London. We made it our duty to try most of the notable local pubs at least twice. The Assheton Arms in Downham is top rated and especially noted for its seafood. It’s a 3 mile easy hike each way along shaded country lanes. You will also find an ice cream parlour in Downham.

The Calf’s Head in Worston is even closer and offers a great pub garden for warm summer days.

The Swan with Two Necks in pretty Pendleton is the closest and is noted for its great selection of Real Ales.

If you prefer to cook at home in our modern kitchen, why not shop at Clitheroe’s Bowland Foodhall where all our local specialities are offered?

Food Hall

Clitheroe offers a Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Booths, a famous fishmonger and some wonderful butchers as well as two speciality wine merchants.
